Piney Point

Piney Point Lighthouse photo

A prominent getaway destination for distinguished Washingtonians during the 1800s, Piney Point was a scenic nature retreat for several presidents, including Teddy Roosevelt. Take a boat to the Piney Point Lighthouse, Museum and Historic Park. Drop by for a leisurely picnic. A sturdy handicap-accessible pier connects to a boardwalk that circles the grounds. The lighthouse was in operation from 1836 to 1964.
