The Surratt Society is pleased to present its twelfth annual conference addressing the many issues surrounding the Lincoln assassination. This year’s theme focuses on some new perspectives ranging from insights on Booth family dynamics, Confederate influence on the Lincoln assassination, a crime scene investigation of the deadly event, details of life at the penitentiary for the conspirators, the evolution of a Booth/Lincoln myth, and lessons on doing historical research in the digital age.
Following in our tradition, we will be offering two outstanding tours on Friday and Sunday of the conference. In commemoration of the Sesquicentennial of the American Civil War, these tours will focus on battles in Maryland and Virginia. Separate reservations will be required for these tours and are on a first-come basis. See tour descriptions below.
An opening reception at the museum’s James O. Hall Research Center will be held on Friday evening, beginning at 6:15 pm. Saturday night’s banquet will feature a musical performance by Doug Jimerson and the Civil War Comrades as we conclude another educational and entertaining event.
