On Saturday evening December 4, 2010, Antietam National Battlefield, in cooperation with the American Business Women's Association, will host the Annual Antietam National Battlefield Memorial Illumination in honor of those soldiers who fell during the Battle of Antietam. In the event of poor weather, the Illumination will be rescheduled for Saturday, December 11, 2010.
Visit Antietam National Battlefield during this most somber yet beautiful event with the Memorial Illumination. More than 23,000 candles will be lit and lined up along the battlefield to pay tribute to the soldiers who were killed, wounded, or reported missing at the noteworthy Battle of Antietam. A five-mile drive through battlefield will reveal rows of candles to symbolize the lives that were lost that September day.
This truly is one of the most stirring events to take place at the battlefield, and is an experience the entire family will never forget!
